Title: Are ibays locked during restore?

Just had a brand new hard drive fail after 7 days and I'm restoring the overnight backup to the previous server which is as-it-was 7 days ago. The only changes between then and now will be a few emails, but whilst the restore is running I cannot login to the ibay shares. I just get bounced out to the username/password prompt.

Is this normal?

I don't know for sure but think it likely. If you are doing a full restore it will be updating users & passwords etc as well.

Preventing access saves any potential corruption.

Are you not running RAID?
