Title: after adding users can NOT "reset password" in server-manager
Post by: oldtony on February 26, 2019, 04:17:58 AM
Hi Experts - on a 9.2 server, after adding users, i can not "reset password".
After many tries i added the lat tool. using lat-users -a -n  -c "harry | Harry | Potter | Quidditch" the user harry is added but the password failed. using the server manager the reset password is red. Besides reinstall & restore a good backup ( which i have) any suggestions how to fix this.  Thanks - Old Tony
btw this is a different server than my last question was about.

Are there any error messages in /var/log/messages?

Does /sbin/e-smith/audittools/newrpms show any unexpected rpms?

Have you made any configuration changes related to LDAP, SELinux, or any other subsystem that involves identity management?

"Quidditch" the user harry is added but the password failed.

Have you changed the password strength setting?

If "Quidditch" is the password it would fail both strong and normal settings - https://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Administration_Manual:Chapter9#Changing_User_Passwords
