Post by: john56 on September 17, 2019, 09:10:06 PM
Hi, is there a way to configure two dhcp range, for example, one for ethernet computer and one for wifi computers ?
(I will have one vlan for each one).
Thanks.

Looks like a XY poblem.

Can you instead ask what is your initial problem instead of asking to help for what you think is the solution ?

seems not to have problem. A compagny wiil install some wifi access point with captive portal and ask me to separate 2 range dhcp

A firewall distro can be a good solution...

.... or alternatively, increased functionality can usually be added with custom templates.

If you do not know how to code/create them, you could pay an expert.
Many features have been added to SME server over the years by corporate sponsorship.

Another good solution can be enable Client Isolation on AP, if this option is available on AP.

edit: this option only "secure" lan from wifi client, the question remain the same: why need dhcp separation?

That is my point.
Why?
What is the initial issue ?
Not enough address ? Increase the subnet.
Security? While your students are able to navigate from room to room they can connect their laptop to the wall to do whatever they want while you  prevent them to do it  on the wifi. So security zero. Only adding complexity and make it harder to administer.

CoovaChilli (https://wiki.contribs.org/CoovaChilli) supported a separate wifi network with a captive portal -- but I have no idea if it works on SME9...

You could run grase hot spot to manage your wifi network.

As pointed out in the link to another threqd you will need another device (either a simple router or another server) to run as dhcp server

Then simply add the other network and router adresse to the list of local network if needed.

With one more ethernet interface coova chillie could indeed handle that but with a ticket system. Not sure this is how you want to handle the wifi.
