Title: PHP VirtualBox Virtual Domains
Post by: adamcyberspace on October 09, 2019, 08:44:00 AM
Just a quick questions.
Does anyone know if PHPVirtualBox will mess with my virtual domains?
I have a number of virtual domains with websites installed in I-bays.. I want to run up a VM and assign a Virtual Domain to it.
Is this possible?
Many thanks

I don't suppose so, but it really depends on what config files it attempts to mess about with.

However, in this day and age it is easy to spin up a test SME box and try it.

Probably need a reverse proxy to do that...

There's a way to do it but I'm out right now. Be back in a bit.

Actually, what services do you intend running on said VM??

I want to run a Ubuntu VM. I need to give it SSH and http access via a virtual domain.
We will be building and compiling web based applications on it.  So Cargo and and a bunch of Rust libraries

1- ssh does not care about domain... so all  you need is to use port forwarding from the SME to the VM ip. ie: 222 =>22

2- for http, you can use reverse proxy, see the documentation: https://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:ProxyPass#ProxyPass_a_domain
