Title: Koozali SME Server v10 Beta minimum RAM
Post by: ReetP on March 05, 2021, 01:08:09 AM
A quick note.

If you are going to install v10 you are going to need a minimum of 4Gb Ram.

This is not due to the core CentOS7 but the latest ClamAV we now run.

It has much higher ram requirements today than previous versions, but we believe we should run the latest version from the EPEL repo instead of base.

Id say thats a plus, surely we all run more than 4gb in todays world.

Nope, my v9.2 is running on an Atom D425 mboard with 4G, looks like a hardware upgrade is on the shopping list

Yes my backup ones are using 2g but the purpose of sme is that none of my running ones have less than 4,if it's 8 or 16 I'll send you a 4 gig stick

Unfortunately the Motherboard only supports a max of 4g.

You'll probably get away with 4gb.

2gb won't really be enough, and there are many only using that much as it was fine for low usage SME v9.

Like it or not things move on. My Nokia 6210 was a great phone....

on the other habd you can still run on 2GB if you deactivate clamd and do not use mail/ file share.

As some might use the SME for the ease to have it configurer and disable the service they do not uses.

9 has been grunting along like a champ for the last few years on a Celeron with 1G. Time for an upgrade !

wow !

my guess is that clamd was disabled, or has been cycling in the last five years trying to start and burning 100% of one cpu thread.

Nope. Just checked - runs weekly to quarantine, currently lazing along at < 1% CPU (don't know what it does for the rest of the week, but haven't noticed anything odd.
