Title: disk-partitioning and affa
Post by: zeeclor on April 03, 2021, 03:26:31 AM
I'm running a 700 gig server and was hoping to test RC1. Affa stores its data in /var/affa.

However with the partitioner I was not able to change the size of /home (Capacity-54G) or / (50G) to allow for the rsync of the data.

Have I missed something?

Disclaimer : at the moment you open the partitioner on the installer GUI you are on you own and will have to create raid, and whatever you want, the default SME partitioning will be replaced by either CentOS default or what you designed. Only way to go back is to reboot.

That being said the partitionner is quite flexible and allow you do do almost all what you want.  You could chose to do

/boot                          1GB xfs
/                              50GB xfs
/home/e-smith/files 200GB ext4
/var/affa                 500GB ext4

Just take the time to put the important pieces first and then set one to take the remaining space.

And note that Affa on v10 is still a "work in progress"

Still trying to figure a few bits out!

Thanks to you both. I apologise for the luser error with the install wizard. I optimised too soon and never got to the screen to customise the partitioning. We are running on iscsi discs so it's simplest to put everything in /.

I am not sure if you are after feedback here but I have done some test affa --rises and have not had too many problems. I cannot authenticate to the new Windows domain but I think that is an issue with the Windows clients not the RC1 restore.

Also I am having trouble connecting to email with thunderbird but once again that seems to be a tbird issue and you can work around it with a reinstallation and linking into the old data locally.

Is there a list of possible issues that I could check out?

dovecot can make a little time for its initialization as it is creating a 4096 dh, so it might delay first connexions to imap or pop.

apart from that should remain pretty forward. i did not had to reinstall anything after migration in term of email.

or simply the wiki page. at the end you have the list of known bugs, it is easier to find what you need.
