I'm using e-smith ver 4.0 b6 and 5 win 95b clients all linked in a 10base t w/ a hub. I have file and print servers set up and running well. My question is the settings for using the gateway service.
Netwok card set-up:
ip addresses 192.168.1.2.....6
netmask 255.255.255.0
wins off
dns set-up:
name "computer name"
domain e-smith domain name i.e. homenet.net
gateway 192.168.1.1 (e-smith box address)
tcp/ip set as default protocol
The modem is jumpered and matches the irq set up in the e-smith config routine.
dial-up config is set up correctly
When I load netscape, I get a "dns not found" error. No connection to the server. Am I missing some setting?
Thanks for your help.............

Sounds like you've set up the computers manually, but didn't give them the address for a DNS server. The e-smith system will provide that service, or you can just use your ISP's servers. You might be better off setting your machines to obtain an IP address automatically--then the e-smith box will configure them correctly using DHCP (assuming you have it enabled; I think it's on by default).
