Trying to do the update using the blades process I get the following error php = 4.0.4pl1-9 is needed by php-manual-4.0.4pl1-9.
As far as I am aware this is a standard install with no modifications - what should I do to correct the conflict?
-
rpm -e php-manual

Sorry if I seem a little slow - will I need to run this from the command prompt when logged in as root? After that do I need to do anything to get things back to where they are now?
Thanks,
DAS

Yes, type that at the command prompt. Then you should be able to install the blade.

Thank you all went well - update completed sucessfully. If I understand the home page this brings the machine in compliance so the worm virus won't effect it. correct?

Slapper won't really do any harm to a standard SME server anyway because its distributed as .c source code & relies on being able to run gcc to compile it into an executable - there's no gcc compiler installed on a standard SME box.
That said, the answer you're looking for is no, it will only be immune to the mod_ssl vulnerability after Update3 has been manually applied - see
http://www.e-smith.org/article.php3&mode=threaded&order=0
for details.

when attempting to do the manual update - I followed the instuctions on the "How to download and install a RPM" And I get the message
error: failed dependencies:
opensl >=0.9.6-13 is needed by SMEServer-5.1.2_update3-01
How do I fix the dependencies?
