Title: Is there an easy way to enable PPTP on Ver 10?
Post by: timm46280 on April 07, 2022, 01:19:16 AM
A couple of years ago I set up a ver 7 SME for a friend who just wanted email and his media behind his gateway. Now his hardware has basically failed and I installed a ver 10 for him with new hardware. Occasionally I need to get on the LAN subnet and work on his plex server. I always have used PPTP as it is easy. It may not be the most secure, but there are no state secrets or critical info that he keeps. Is there an easy way to enable PPTP on ver 10?

Thanks,

-Tim

Just as easy and more secure contribs, Wireguard, Softether and others

No, but hackers can easily use it to control the server, use it as a spam relay or in DoS attacks.

It isn't just about the data.

The pptp code has been removed and there is no way to restore it.

I was about to say Wireguard as it is easy but just checked the wiki and we need to check the status of bug 11771.

OpenVPN routed works fine. Just takes a bit of time to get used to certs & setups. PHPki generates certs.

I need to paste some sample ovpn files on the wiki page. You don't actually need to generate a pkcs file - you can paste the certs into the opvn file.
