Title: ident FAQ link?

A while back someone posted a link to a mini-FAQ about ident. If I remember correctly, it did a great job of describing why it's left open, what it does, etc. I've tried a few searches here, but I haven't found the post that actually linked to the other FAQ. Anyone else remember this?

it from -- it's stuck around in my stuff-about-IRC directory for years, and
it doesn't seem to be available anywhere else, so:
