Title: Update Manage difference
Post by: James Redfern on September 19, 2002, 08:57:48 PM
At http://www.dungog.net/sme/howto/demo/demo-install-adv.html, Dungog's demo site, I see an Update Manager screen on SME 5.1.2 that shows a nice log of what has been updated on an Advanced Options page which allows you to remove updates too.  Now I seem to remember I have seen this before, and although I have Update System installed, I cannot now see the 'remove rpms' option, which I am sure I had at one time, nor have I ever seen the log.  Is this a difference between GPL and standard license products or, as I now have 5.5.2 installed, is e-smith going backwards in capability?  There must be a hidden 'switch' somewhere, right?

Follow -- duh!  I just installed Rungog's User Management system, which is really neat, checked the Update System, and there it all is.  Thank you Dungog!

Ooops.  I see (for some reason the) the BBS softwae omitted the URL I carefully put there. Hmmm.  Oh well, second time lucky.

You want 'devinfo-mitel-update-system'...

Its at ---> http://www.dungog.net/sme/files/
but go to page --> http://www.dungog.net/sme/howto/install.php first.

Have fun!

It certainly makes it simple to install an RPM package, and it would be really great it the logging system was working.  My installation shows the first thing I installed, the "dungog-pkg-usermanager 0.1-2 Packaged rpm containing all user-manager rpms" but nothing since then.
