Title: whats this error mean?
Post by: Johnno on September 20, 2002, 09:57:46 AM
Anyone help me here?
the system name is chloe

Sep 19 14:03:15 chloe kernel: Checking 386/387 coupling... OK, FPU using
exception 16 error reporting.

and also, the system disconnected from the lan, is there any log files made when the system fails, like where are all the log files kept? The company ended up pressing the reset button to get it working again.

regards
John

It's not an error, it's simply the kernel checking that it can see a 387 FPU - in fact, I've never seen a Linux system that doesn't print this message (you'd probably need to be running a 386 without the 387 FPU to see something different!)

Log files are kept in the standard location for RH /var/log
