Hi,
I configured the ldap service, the config is:
Directory defaults
Server root
dc=startrek,dc=home
Department
Main
Company
Home
Street address
M. Gandhilaan 7
City
Amsterdam
Phone number
020-6106004
in Netscape communicator I created a new directory in the name&addressbook
like this:
descr.: LDAP at Home
LDAP srv: 192.168.0.1
and I don't see any entries in the tree (I have several accounts on the e-smith machine)
I added dc=startrek to the search root but that doesn't change anything, also
dc=startrek, dc=home doesn't change anything.
What am I doing wrong?
netscape states:
connect: contacting host: LDAP at Home and keeps stating that

Hello, I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Check the general system settings page in the e-smith manager, and make sure you're using the right server root. It must match exactly, with no spaces.

I presume you mean the "general system information" page?
and then you mean this entry?
Directory defaults
Server root dc=startrek,dc=home
I put dc=startrek,dc=home in the ldap settings of netscape but still the same.

Got it working,
well, to be honest;) it appears to've worked all along but my expectations were incorrect.
I was under the impression that when you create a directory-entry with communicator
and you select it that you get to see all entries in the directory and could even add some.
This couldn't be more wrong, it's a search thing;) and that works good.
