Hello.
Are there some one, that can help me with e-smith 5.5 i can't get it to work,

1. My root user don't work

2. How can i upload my files to the server. (FTP/Homepage)

3. How do i install my other drive, so i can use 2 (HDD)

4. Is there any way so i can use more then 12 letters in the username?

Hope You can help me out there. :)

Lars:

1. Does your admin user work?

2. depends on the answer to 1.

3. There's a contributed note on the e-smith site on how to add a 2nd drive.

4. I don't think so, but I welcome any corrections.

I got the root login to work, i tryed www.mydomain.com and not http://mydomain.com. only works with www. :)
So what next, My q.2

There is a way around the 12 letter limit in username

Can you guide me, on how i do that.

Just type this on your SME console:

   /sbin/e-smith/db configuration set maxAcctNameLength 15   /sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save

BUT be aware of you can have problems with win9x machines! You have been warned! (And I don´t say you WILL have problems, but you CAN have problems. And I´m too new to understand this 12 letters limitation of windows, but I´m SURE that SME guys don´t do that if isn´t by a GOOD reason! They have a GREAT software!)
