Title: Routing Two Network Cards
Post by: Klaus Boehme on October 03, 2002, 02:30:35 PM
I have a requirement to gate two Network segments separately.

I have installed 2 ethernet cards into the SME Server (5.5).  I note that the setup and access manager etc. only deal with one card.

The server applies its IP address to the first card.  I configure the second card (on a separate segment) manually.  IP connectivity etc is fine on each segment, yet the SME server doesn't IPFWD or MASQ the second segment.

In the Server Manager there's a section to allow a separate network access, yet it insists on a router address - I'm not using a router just hubs/switches for each segment.

Is there a simple way to set up forwarding/nat for the second segment (eth1) from within the Server Manager?  Or is it a case of manually adding IPCHAINS and MASQ entries?

I can probably handle that if necessary (after some reading) but am always concerned that a reboot returns it to square one!

Thanks

Klaus

Many Thanks Bill.

I thought it strange as I was sure it was a simple procedure in an earlier version!  Must try and keep up to date on the bugs etc :-(
