Title: APCUPSD Failed!
Post by: steve on October 05, 2002, 08:44:57 PM
Hi,
I have problem I hope someone can help me with.
After installing update3 to 5.1.2 in accordance with the instructions from this site I can no longer see the data from my UPS on the web interface.
When I go to APCUPSDs multimon.cgi page it just has the message:
Local Host       Not available: upsfetch: tcp_open failed
Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone fixed it!
Steve

Yes and yes. Did you forget to restart the daemon?

Doh!!!
Thanks it all works now! Strange that it didn't start itself on any of the many reboots I tried.

if you are using Myezserver contrib-

# cp /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf.orig
# rpm -e dmc-mitel-apcupsd
# rpm -e apcupsd

Then reinstall the contrib

move the backed up conf
# "mv" /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf.orig /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf

# service apcupsd restart

Give it 30 seconds and then check your browser based monitoring

And what about to install new versions of APCUPSD like 3.8.5 or even 3.10 ?

I have BackUPS  CS 500 (the cheapest model in Brasil!)  connected with 128A cable to SME 5.1.2 (maybe next weekend it will be upgraded to 5.5!). I would like to upgrade 3.8.2 (from EZServer contrib) to 3.8.5 or 3.10.0 to get it working.

I´m afraid of get EVERYTHING WRONG by just issue and rpm -Uvh on 3.8.5/3.10.0 rpm!

Any tips are welcome.

Thanks!

Have a go and post your findings. If it don't work just remove the rpm and re-install 3.8.2 - you will probably need to revisit the conf file for the new rpm.

My advice would be to remove the dmc-mitel-apcupsd rpm first, and as well, on each occasion

Good luck.

OK! Just before to update/reinstall this server I´ll try to update APCUPSD.
I think this will happen next week!

I´ll post my result here!

Thanks by now and bye!
