Title: Accessing E-smith shares from Windows 2000 Server
Post by: Jason Bertelsen on October 09, 2002, 08:02:30 AM
I currently have two servers one running Windows 2000 Server and E-smith what im trying to do is keep all the data in one place (e-smith) and pointing the windows 2000 server to the appropriate directories. The windows 2000 server is running iis and i have pointed the iis to the share on e-smith but it asks for a user name and password when you try to browse to the page. Now this is to do with permissions that on a 2k box u right click on the file and set users and permissions, which you cant do when you browse the shares on e-smith.

Now I know you can change the mod for the folders on e-smith but will that fix my problem or will i need to add a similar account to the e-smith box.

Im just a little lost and really its only for ASP because none of the ASP interpreters for linux really do a good job thats why I have a 2k server.

If anyone can tell us ultimatly how to set this up to work it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jason

The Win2k user account must match a username and password on the e-smith.
