I am running SME V5.5 w/ a standard clean install.
I downloaded and installed the RPMs from www.dugong.net using Update System in Server-Manager but nothing changed in my server-manager interface.
Anybody have any idea why?? Has this actually worked for anyone?
Thanks!
-
Which rpm's did you download/install?
Maybe they dont add anything to the actual server-manager interface?
-
I use the same rpm and it works great. You should get a new panel in the server manager.
-
These are the RPMs I installed:
e-smith-userpanel-1.0-4.noarch.rpm
perl-Unicode-IMAPUtf7-1.02-1.i386.rpm
perl-Unicode-String-2.06-1.i386.rpm
Did you do these Andrei? I also followed the How-To at:
http://lordsfam.net/downloads/production/user-manager/user-manager-howto.html
Thanks!
-
Go Here:
http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/user-manager/
Download this rpm:
devinfo-mitel-usermanager-pkg-0.0.2-2.noarch.rpm
Now follow the instructions you have.
Look at what the instructions said to install and look at what you actually downloaded the first time. Not the same as the instructions eh?
Peace,
Andrei

Question? So you don't see an extra entry on the server manager web page under Security -->>User Panel Access?
I installed the rpm with the same files you used also. And I had the same results either way. Also with this rpm you access the user manager panel via https://
-
Yeah you can access user manager through:
https://localhost/user-manager
just login with a valid user account :-)
-
I ran the devinfo-mitel-usermanager-pkg-0.0.2-2.noarch.rpm and I got a similar screen like this. So I reran the perl rpms and this is the result.
I don't get whay this is happening. Still no change to server-manager. BTW: I am accessing it using https:
Thanks

One more item:
When I try to install the perl rpms listed below:
perl-Unicode-IMAPUtf7-1.02-1.i386.rpm
perl-Unicode-String-2.06-1.i386.rpm
I get a message saying these rpms are already installed. I used the Update System feature in server-manager.
But when I putty into my server and do an rpm -e to remove them...it says they are NOT installed.
Thanks for the input everyone!
-
Try typing the rpm names without the numbering, lik so:
rpm -e perl-Unicode-IMAPtf7
and
rpm -e perl-Unicode-String
that might help...
-
I give up....it doesn't work on my server.

You must be doing something wrong or have something wrong.
Generally if you uninstal and then instal again it should be OK. You might want to reboot your server after the uninstal just in case.
I have just installed it on a v5.5 update 2 server and it works fine first go. Very useful extra features too.
You should do
rpm -e e-smith-userpanel
rpm -e perl-Unicode-IMAPUtf7
rpm -e perl-Unicode-String
If you get a dependency error message try uninstalling in a different order.
I downloaded to my home folder the following files from
http://www.dungog.net/sme/files/userpanel/
e-smith-userpanel-1.0-4.noarch.rpm
perl-Unicode-IMAPUtf7-1.02-1.i386.rpm
perl-Unicode-String-2.06-1.i386.rpm
Then I cd to that folder
cd /home/e-smith/files/users/myaccountname/home
then
ls
to see the files are there
then
rpm -Uvh *
Instal runs OK
Run server-manager to setup access rights to the user-manager
Then when I log on using https://www.mydomain.com/user-manager I login with my user account name and password.
The user-manager displays the panels that I have allowed access for.
Try again, you will like the additions.

You might also apply update2 to your v5.5 server if you have not done so.
Just in case you might also download the rpms again in case they were corrupted.
I recall having some unusual problem when installing uninstalling rpms added with the Update System panel add on in a sme v5.1.2 server. I don't use it any more.
I think your problem may revolve around that fact that part of your system thinks the rpms are installed and part of it thinks they have been uninstalled.
A more knowledgeable Linux person than me may be able to resolve the issue for you.

If you run
rpm -qa
do you see the three rpms as being installed.
