Title: failed 5.5 upgrade - pos cause failed Squid guard

Some time ago I attempted to install Squid Guard on my 5.1 server. Failed - my fault.  As of late I attempted to upgrade to SME 5.5.  Resulting in failure when attempting to surf from work stations - " Network Connection refused by the server", on all work stations, to any and all web sites.
Am I on track, and how do I disable whats left of squid guard?
