Title: 5.1.2 works great - How about 5.5 ?
Post by: Graham on October 23, 2002, 12:14:28 PM
Hi !

Just some general advice really . . .

I have 5.1.2 working great at some offices and learnt to do some mods
recommended here :-

fetchmail / startmail workaround for dialup (for example)

Have a lot of these isssues been ironed out in 5.5 OR am I likely to
find that there will be other things that will need tweaking ?

I intend to use the box with an external ISDN TA on the serial port
to connect to a BT Business highway line. I want to serv HTTP
email and files as well as DHCP.

I dont need Appletalk - is there a nice way to start/stop services
from the control panel ? And is there the same for Win Logon
Scripts yet ?

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

Graham

I have tried a modem on 5.5, and it seemed to work ok, I tried all the intervals in the server mamanger, over about 2 days and they all seemed to go ok.

There is a Services control panel, found at

http://www.myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/e-smith-service-control/

In general you can easily search for something like this through my SME Server links page:

Thanks Brian,

Actually I have been thinking - would it be a whole lot easier to buy
an ISDN NAT Router and let that serve HTTP / Translate request to
the outside network ?

SME could then just concenttrate on Logon/File/Backup services ?

Do you know the cost differeneces between an IDN External TA and
NAT Router ?

Thanks !
