Title: SME 5.5 & BT DSL
Post by: Alan H on October 27, 2002, 06:49:56 AM
Hi folks,

I am moving to the UK in a couple of weeks.

I currently use a SME v5.5 here in OZ, and I think it's great.
I intend to subscribe to BT ADSL.
I would like to know if other people have done this, how they got on, any problems encountered.
I haven't been able to figure out what modem BT supply ( I only know that it will cost me £80!)

Thanks in Advance,
Alan.

Alan

There are lots of suppliers of ADSL (although the last lap alweays goes through BT), and the deals vary a lot, and so does the hardware supplied.

Lots of us use ADSL with SME.

Lots of people also use NTL and Telewest (cable) instead with just as much success.

The thing to be aware of is that ADSL isn't everywhere in the UK if you know the postcode or telephone number of the place you;ll be staying, then go to:

http://www.adslguide.org.uk/

and do a postcode check

Telewest and NTL are found here:

http://www.telewest.co.uk/textonly/

and

http://www.ntl.com/  (although this sems broken this AM).

Email me off list of you want more information
