Title: How to have E-smith to rebuild config files from Templates?
Post by: geeze on November 18, 2002, 05:28:52 PM
How do I have have e-smith recreate all the config files from the templates? I have recently upgraded some of the RPM's on my e-smith 4.1.x server, and now when I reboot the box, several of the services like Appleshare that I had disabled before are now trying to start and Failing. It doesn't appear to be causing me an issue, since my server appears to be working otherwise. I just think that I must have overwritten the e-smith created configuration files and would just like to have e-smith rebuild them from their templates and see if that gets rid of the annoying RED failed messages when it reboots. If that doesn't fix it, will just have to dig a little deeper through the config files and see if I can fix them.

Log on as admin to the console and run the configuration process again, change one entry temporarily, and save at the end, that should do a console save and rebuild everything. Change your temporarily changed entry back again when done

Alternatively log on as root and do
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save
then do a reboot

There are commands to expand individual templates also.

Read all the stuff at the links on e-smith.org, eg FAQ, documentation etc on left of screen, there are a lot of things to be learnt there.
