I am attempting to build a 2.2.13 kernel with the masquerade patch. I can not enable the experimental masquerade module support with 'make xconfig'. What dependencies have to be set (or not set) to enable these options?
Should these be compiled into the kernel or compiled as loadable modules?

Does anyone have preconfigured files I can copy to my kernel source directory so that I can just build the kernel?

My understanding is that there are some changes that need to be made that are in parts of the kernel which can't be loaded as modules.
As to the details of your questions, I think you would be better to ask them on the e-smith developers mailing list, or perhaps better than that, on the list of your local linux users group.
I'd recommend that you use the 2.2.14 or 2.2.15 kernel instead of 2.2.13.
