Title: Beginner question
Post by: Jorge on November 29, 2002, 02:38:16 AM
I'm trying to change the squid.conf  but the file this header :

#------------------------------------------------------------
# DO NOT MODIFY THIS FILE! It is updated automatically by the
# Mitel Networks server software. Instead, modify the source
# template in the /etc/e-smith/templates directory. For more
# information, see http://www.e-smith.org/.

How can change the squid.conf ??

the SME server software has a customised template system designed to make it more flexible and friendlier for updating. If you intend modifying files contained in the templates folders the recommendation is that you copy the file to the templates-custom folder and modify the copied version. You then have to rebuild the package configuration - see the article below - it has info in particular on copying and editing squid.conf

Like the message says /etc/squid.conf is the default linux placement.
Do a find -name squid.conf and you will find the E-smith squid.conf........that easy....I cant remeber where it is but E-smith overwrites /etc/squid.conf . I had trouble with the crond job running sqmgr same thing neeed to vi the E-smith cronttab.....not the default one......
