Title: Newbie - update2 froze after 'post-upgrade'
Post by: D. Perkins on December 01, 2002, 04:03:28 PM
After installing Update2 on my new v5.5 system, I issued the 'post-upgrade' signal and my system hung.

Resetting the system, it reported lots of 'deleted inode ???? has zero dtime'  (a similar number to the number of packages installed)

I'm left wondering if I have successfully applied the update or not.

Any ideas?

TIA

You could run the update again to make sure.

Alternatively

If you do rpm -qa
you get a list of installed rpms
Compare this with the list of rpms in the Update on the update page at e-smith.org and see if they are all there.

Personally I think it would be easier and safer to run the update again.

Did that - I tried it three times and it froze everytime.

rpm -qa did the trick though, but the 'noarch' and 'i386' items on the end of the package names were missing, which I assume is OK.

Thanks for your help.
