Title: mail server gateway
Post by: hughv on December 03, 2002, 05:22:13 PM
Newbie question:

I am using the SME as intranet server/gateway with private ip.  Is it possible to set the Qmail server so that it retrieve emails from our ISP with those multiple POP3 accounts and aliases?  Is so what configurations should I modified. I looked at the /var/qmail/control, but not quite sure.

By default, the SME can fetch from one POP account (for multi-drop or whatever it's called). I'm using this to pull the email sent to our included account with the ISP and send it to the admin account. There is also an addon that allows you to have other POP accounts fetched for certain users. That should work for you, though I have no experience with it. A search for user and fetchmail might bring it up...

thanks...

howvever, I have another problem.

i get 'Permission Denied' when i ftp over to the SME.  I am using WS-FTP. I changed the permission on the directory for write, but still no sucess..
In the web administration, I changed the permission to allow FTP.  It says that 'Admin' user automatically has  write access though.  what piece am i missing.
