Title: A couple questions
Post by: P-K on May 09, 2000, 09:53:28 PM
1.Has the PAM patch for 3.1 been released yet so that users can ftp?

2.Why is it that wildcards are not allowed in passwords? i.e. ! # *  Is it because of the perl scripting ?

3.I set up a Ibay named bucket with a password. When I accessed the ibay web page it prompted my with a username and password box. I used bucket as the username and then put in the password. That let me in just fine and I was able to see  the Ibay web page. On the web page is a link to the Ibay files ftp://bucket@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx . When I click on the link it ask me for a password but no username. I tried the password and i wont accept it.  Is there somthing I did wrong?

Thanks for any help you can give.

I don't think so, but I have built a new proftpd RPM which includes the fix - you can download it from http://e-smith.gormand.com.au/

Sort of. It is a security precaution associated with the way that e-smith works internally. We hope to remove some of these restrictions in the future.
