Title: Firewall Rules missing after new install
Post by: Ron de Boer on December 12, 2002, 05:14:39 AM
Hi All,

I've spent an hour+ looking for some reference to my problem but can't find anything that helps.  I have installed SME 5.5 for my local church as a server & gateway.  They have a dedicated Dialup to the Internet and there own Domain.  DNS resolution is working, Internet works.  Mail out to the Internet works. Mail internally works.  Running SSH internally works.

However I cannot not get mail from the internet and cannot run a session remotely.
Doing some SMTP messaging I have found that port 25 was blocked.  I then checked the firewall rules and found that about 60-70% of the firewall rules for a SME server acting as a Server & Gateway were missing.

I have tried changing the server IP address to something else and then changing back to the dedicated IP address as provided by the Network provider hoping this would make SME 5.5 recreate all the firewall rules but no thing seems to work.

Any ideas would be helpful before I start from scratch again.

Regards
Ron

Have you applied Update2?
Did you switch server modes at some point?

Try signalling the remoteaccess-update event:

# /sbin/e-smith/signal-event remoteaccess-update
