Title: Secure Shell HOWTO
Post by: Steen Loecke on December 17, 2002, 12:38:11 AM
Hi friends!

I'm new to SME and Linux. Could some of you please tell me where I can find a HOWTO for ssh/secure shell.
I want to use that feature in SME.

Best regards
Steen

I don´t know about a HowTo. Neither I have need one!

Search Google for PUTTY. Download it. It´s freeware

Run putty and put your ip server as Host. Choose SSH at right.
Write a name for your server (e.g. "linux server") and click on save.

Now use open button to connect and answer with root and his password!

If you wanna to access from outside SSH use port 22. So open a hole in your firewall and/or redirect ports on modem!

If you need more help just ask!

Establishing a remote terminal session from a Windows PC is pretty straightforward and foolproof. Here's what I remember...

Download the Windows client from ssh.com.

Install client.

Enable SSH in Server Manager.

Connect client to server's IP.
