Title: Connect drop out

After following all the good advice I received here, I've managed to set up the gateway. Now, the connection sort-of drops out after a while. The connection remains, but when I try to load a page or check e-mail, I get a failure message telling me that I have no connection to the server or the site has no DNS.

When I re-boot the server, everything is fine for a while. This happens when the connection is idle for a while.

Settings:
gateway w/dial up
isp primary dns address 12.7.121.130
dchp on
clients: win 95b
e-smith: ver 4.01b6
This happens no matter if I use the primary dns setting or leave that field blank.

I kind of remember a thread about something like this, but can't remember the details.

I seem to have solved my own problem. I'd left the internal modem in the box when I went to an external modem.
This must have caused a conflict of some kind because when I took it out, the trouble went away.
