Title: How to make SME installation floppies?
Post by: Dub Dublin on December 21, 2002, 01:53:42 AM
I can't find a procedure or any floppy images anywhere to make an SME Boot/install floppy.  I have a computer with a notebook CD-ROM drive that refuses to boot from my SME 5.5 CD-RW disk (which boots fine in regular drives - I'm told this is a common problem with CD-RWs).

The computer sees the CD-ROM fine, it just won't boot from it, so I need a boot floppy to get the install kicked off.  There are references here on the groups about a boot floppy, but I can't find out where to get one or how to make one.

How the heck  do I do this?

(In best Gilda Radner voice):  Neverrrmiiind...

For anyone searching for this the anser can be found here: http://www.e-smith.org/docs/howto/Boot_floppy_howto.php3

If it's documented anywhere what the various images do, that's one piece of info I can't find.  (Not that I care much since boot.img works just fine for me...)

Sorry for the bother,

Dub
