Hi,
(Excuse the fringe the nature of this post as it's not a direct E-Smith question...)
Does anybody know of a DB accessible via Perl (eg. MySQL,PreSQL etc..) that will install with not too much hassle on top of the E-Smith 3.1 build (eg. RPMs) ?
I would prefer, if given the choice, not to have to install a whole developers suite, just for the jpy of DB access. (suprise, suprise )
Regards,
Luke

I may be wrong, but I think MySql should install no problem. Do a search in this forum for mysql just in case someone else has tried it. I'm sure I asked a question about this a while ago. PostgreSQL may work as well.

Most if not all of the available Redhat RPM's will install and operate on the e-smith platform.
However if you want the web based interface or the configuration changes that a lot of packages make you'll still have to modify the system.

I began installing MySQL and ran into a few snags. I gave PostgreSQL a go and had no trouble at all. It runs very well on e-smith v3.0.
