Hi,
It seems that I have a problem with dhcpcd. When I select DHCP with ethernet address that is not what I get. I did a ps -C dhcpcd and it told me that it was running with the -h useraccount -I password or something like that (sorry but I couldn't telnet and copy the error message)
If you look in the ifup script it will take the last option for dhcpcd which has the account name even though I wanted to use the ethernet address.
I know my provider does not remember the MAC address (I mean the ethernet one) because I can connect with two different PC's and a router (I have to switch off the modem when I try a new set-up though)
My problem is that I can surf the system of my provider perfectly. I guess this means masq works but once I leave his system it fails.
I can resolve host names fine but pinging gives loads of dropped packets except for addresses on my providers' system.
Help greatly appreciated,
Jan
btw: it took me a wile to figure out that http://ip-address/server-manager does not work while http://hostname/server-manager does work
