Title: Yahoo IM
Post by: Bob Pilette on December 29, 2002, 04:55:01 PM
I am currently using SME V 5.5 as a router & print server.

The only problem I am having is that voice (audio)  messaging is getting cut off on those I am receiving from. I have bypassed the SME server box and don't have the problem.

I am assuming a certain port might be either blocked or not forwarded. It is funny though that the cam/video link has no problems.

I am going to try and upgrade to SME V 5.6 b7 but I doubt that will fix it.

Any ideas / anyone else having this problem?

Can you specify which ports to use in the client? You may have to setup a range of ports to forward from the SME to each PC that you'd like to receive on...

It says:

"If you are behind a firewall, you can still use Yahoo! Voice Chat as long as your firewall permits outgoing TCP connections to vc.yahoo.com on ports 5000 and 5001."

But outgoing is not my problem.

And it is funny that the text & video  finds it's way through.

Thanks in advance for any help.

BTW, I'm also leaving feedback to Yahoo to get more specfic info.

Hi Bob Pilette

Did you find the solution for this?

I regulary use yahoo voice, and never had a problem with SME 5.0
but after the upgrade to 5.5 it stops working.

incoming audio is cut, outgoing is fine, and video works perfect.

any ideas?, if audio uses TCP I'm in trouble since i can por forward it
but, there are several PC's using yahoo voice and can't route the
traffic just to one pc!, I think that if yahoo uses UDP it will not be a
problem, since UDP are not routed, just opened (as far as I know).

see you
