Title: Internet Quotas for Users
Post by: Peter on January 02, 2003, 12:11:36 PM
I want to be able to set Internet Quotas for individual users.

How do I do this? ...through IPchains? or is there an RPM that I can install to do this?

I have tried searching the forums but have only managed to confuse myself

Thanks Peter

You are shooting way beyond the range of this software. Limiting internet access is easy but setting packet quotas is another whole ballgame.

Calvin,
I downloaded censornet and took a look at the posibilities it offers.
It looks great. Do you know of a similar dev project for e-smith?
It seems the perl scripts could be ported to the e-smith platform.
Regards,
Ernesto

Censornet is a debian distro, and have a lots o modifications in squid, dansguardian and firewall. I think that can develop some features like, bus is better have a dedicate server for proxy, especialized....

what you think ?

Calvin,
I think SME (e-smith) is a great concept and perfect for the small business or SOHO. It follows the concept that Microsofts employ's in their Small Business Server family of products in that it incorporates as much functionality in one single server hardware. I like that philosophy because most small business owners in Caracas dislike great investments in IT infrastructure and our current situation is increasing this. I'm even thinking of incorporating a PBX call billing system into SME Server. I really think that censornets functionality would greatly enhance SMEs potential as the perfect SOHO Small Business server. Best regards,
Ernesto
