Title: Start/Stop Services
Post by: Palani on January 06, 2003, 05:04:50 AM
Hello everybody. I installed 5.5 and am now running 5.6 beta 7. Is there a way to stop and/or start services in the firewall? I went to grc.com and scan.sygate.com and it shows quite a few of my ports opened. I don't need or want these ports open until I need them. I would like to have the option to turn these off or on with the click of the mouse. I am used to using ClarkConnect  http://www.clarkconnect.org which gives me the ability to do this. I also need to find out how I can forward ports to my WindowsXP box so that I can use my video conferencing software. I need ports 2000 - 2003 forwarded to my Windows machine. How do I do this. I was able to do this in ClarkConnect. I am NOT trying to promote ClarkConnect but it has some nice features. Features that I would like to have in SME.

Thanks
Palani

There are 2 rpm's that do what you require:

Firstly you can download a Services rpm that you can use to stop and start services can be found here:

http://www.myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/e-smith-service-control/

and secondly I use a couple of rpm's one that opens ports, one that closes ports and one that forwards ports, the forwarding can be found here:

http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/portforwarding/

both add a panel to the server-manager for easy access/use.

Hope that helps :-)
