Title: Command Prompt?
Post by: FJ on January 07, 2003, 01:50:03 AM
I am brand new to SME. I was able to get it installed and able to access the Internet from my Windows machine. The question I have is, how do I get to a command prompt from the web interface on my WindowsXP machine?

Thanks
FJ

As far as I am aware you can'r get a command prompt via a web interface.  You will need to get a secure shell (ssh) client for your XP box and use that.  Ssh clients are available on most download sites (in fact XP might have one built in, but if not try www.tucows.com).

You can get a webconsole rpm, gives you access to MindTerm 2.3.1 from https://yourserver.com/webconsole  its a nice little ssh program, but its not as good as putty, handy to have if you need to quickly get a console prompt and dont have access to putty, my 2ce worth.

Putty:

Webconsole:

Hope that helps,
