Title: importing emails
Post by: Sam on January 21, 2003, 12:07:29 PM
Unbelievably, I could not find any answers to this after several searches.

Is it possible to import emails from say outlook to e-smith and preserve the directory structures. (one more person converted to the linux cause !)

Thanks

Sam

I managed to find something to do just that, but not on the SME Server, on my SuSe workstation at home. I can't remember what it is called, but if you go to www.freshmeat.net, and do a search on outlook messages, it should find it.

I imagine there are lots of other ways, but thats the first one that pops into my head...

Why do not use IMAP to do this?

Just create a new IMAP account on your e-mail reader pointing to your SME server.

Now connect to that account and verify that you have access to your e-mail.

And MOVE/COPY your messages from Outlook Express / Outlook to your new SME IMAP account!!

Would take some time but it´s 100% garanteed and it´s VERY EASY!
