Title: How to get my mails
Post by: Tue Hellstern on January 24, 2003, 12:50:12 AM
Hi,
I have a problem with e-mail on my E-smith server. I can see it gets the mails from the mail server outside my network. I ‘am using Multi-drop.
When I log on to the server by webmail or by my mail client (Outlook) I cant see any mails. My gues is that I ‘am using a wrong username, but how do I see what user name I have to use to get my mails?

Hi,

When you configured multidrop, have you configured the retrieved mail to be internally forwarded to an user of your system ?

Because if not, the mail is probably in the root mailbox or in an unreachable mailbox. In this case, create an user 'toto' (for example), and make a forward to user toto in multidrop panel.

In any case, it is more secured to access toto mailbox than root mailbox with a mail client, because of the password being send in clear text...

Hope it helps,

Erika

Hi,
I just don't get this!! :-(
I can see that E-smith server en are receiving the mail's with multi drop from the account: tibi@go-data.dk
The domain on my E-smith server is go-data-lokal.dk
I have a user called tibi and it is this user I would like to get the mails?
The user connect to the server but NO mail!
Is the problem that the extern mail servers name is go-data.dk and the domain on the E-smith server is go-data-lokal.dk if yes what do I do to get my mail.
I have some mails on the server that I very much will like to read :-))

Hi,

I think your problem is that the two domains (go-data.dk and go-data-lokal.dk) are different, and, when mail is retrieved by e-smith server, domain didn't match.

In fact, it seems to be the default behaviour for multidrop.

However, I manage to make correct forwarding in using Stephen Noble rpm (multipop), which allow to forward mails to internal users (tibi in your case), based on subject or address (and there you can use any domain)...

Try a search on www.myezserver.com or www.dungog.net, I can't remember where I downloaded this rpm :-(

Hope it helps,
