Title: Restricting user web access
Post by: Sasha on May 26, 2000, 01:26:47 AM
How can one restrict certain users from access to the web, without restriciting the mail account.

I have done it currently in IE by setting the proxy to some arbitrary ip addr, but a knowledgable user can easily bypass this.

I know it can be done when using squid as the only proxy, but e-smith allows you to bypass the proxy.

what you could do is setup transparent proxy, which is covered in this list somewhere,
and setup static ips on the internal network and then setup acls. or you can do it with ipchains also.
