Title: New Old Problem - webmail default login.
Post by: Mike Katz on January 31, 2003, 12:58:38 AM
I know this is an old problem but I have spent over an hour searching the forums and I cannot find an answer except for this has been answered elsewhere.

I just upgraded to 5.6 and now the webmail login screen has a default user name of admin on the login screen.

I experienced this problem once before but I do not remember how I got rid of it.

Please do not post any replies to this message that are not actual solutions.

I'm not sure if that will still work on 5.6. File names/locations may be a bit different in the new version.

If you have logged into server-manager then the browser knows that you have authenticated somewhere as user admin.  IMP (webmail) takes this as the primary username and populates the login field with it.

If you use user-manager and authenticate as a user and then try to go to webmail you will see that username in the webmail user box.

If you completely close all browsers and then open a new browser window to webmail you should have an empty username.

This is all done within IMP (webmail) automatically.  If you don't want/like this behavior the thread above is a start to remove this behavior but be careful when editing files it is very easy to make mistakes and break webmail completely.
