Title: Does squid turned off kill web site
Post by: Robert Schutz on January 31, 2003, 09:27:30 PM
I was serving up my local web site on my esmith box, But could not maintain a frontpage web site on a remote isp. I turned squid off on esmith and now can get frontpage to connect to my remote isp.

I can see my local esmith web site on my  local network browser. But no one outside my network can see the esmith web site.

Does turning squid off turn off the local esmith website? Or is something else going on.?

I have my host name www.63.xxx.xxx.xxx global self
I can send email ok to the esmith from yahoo mail.
esmith box is the primary domain and workgroup controller.
I can connect to my local web site with ftp and dreamweaver.

Thanks in advance.
Robert

I believe there was an issue with transparent proxying not being turned off when squid was disabled. A search should bring up more info...

I found it .

TURN OFF SQUID, if you want to run frontpage. There is a howto here on how to do  it.
