Title: Install sme 5.6 from floppy?
Post by: Robert Schutz on February 05, 2003, 10:35:37 PM
I'm running sme 5.5 on an old computer that does not allow me set boot order. It boots from floppy then hard drive, no option to boot from cd.

I want to upgrade to sme 5.6. Any suggestions on how todo this.

Thanks in advance.
Robert

Hi Robert,
My suggestion is to read the manual. It contains the answer to your question and other useful information.
Regards,
Robert

OK, I believe the manual is not very clear on this. What you need to do is write a boot floppy image to a floppy. The image should be on the CD-ROM in the 'images' directory. I think it's called boot.img. On DOS you can use the rawrite utility to make the boot floppy. On Linux you can use dd.
