Title: Remote connection problem
Post by: Jeff Fentum on February 12, 2003, 08:45:12 PM
I have SME servers installed at 2 different locations.

At location "A", I have an SME server (v5.5) running in server/gateway mode connected to the internet (T1).

At location "B", I have an SME server (v.5.1) running in server/gateway mode and connected to the internet (DSL) as well.

The SME  gateway servers at both locations are configured to run a freeswan ipsec vpn. Location "A" is the primary, location "B" is set to be secondary/client. The vpn connection is running smoothly, I have no trouble connecting to clients on the either side from my Mac (using either os 9 or X).

The problem is this...

At location "B" there is a Windows XP user connecting to location "A" using PPTP. This user has no problems accessing the SME server/gateway and its ibays at location "A", as well as other Windows-based clients shares at the same location. But when this user tries to access an ibay on an SME server (running v5.6 in SERVER ONLY mode) on the LAN at location "A" (inside the firewall), access is denied. This user is using the same username and password for ALL of the SME servers involved and, yes, the same username/password combo has been set up on each SME server. This same user has no problems accessing this machine from the same XP-based client when it is plugged into the same local network.

I can access the ibay from location "B" via Appletalk without a hitch.
Now I know that it's a Windows Config thing...BUT WHAT!!!
