Hi All;
I am use to using a Cobalt server and it has a very nice GUI
for setting up everything including DNS
I do use Bind-PE on 2 Windows Based Servers..
Similiar setup I guess to Bind on Linux
Dumb Question!!!!
Where is the GUI on the Beta SME Beta Server ???
I do not want to use Command Line to edit the
files for Bind 9 !!!
Rigt now I am in a learning mode for SME servers...
I am looking at using this software instead of getting
complete Cobalt Servers, especially when using
them on DSL circuits.
Thanks

First, if you're using the beta, you should upgrade to the final 5.6 release. Second, the only GUI is the web-based server manager.

Well it was the latest SME Server....
it said .... Unsupported all over it....
I just d/l it the other day from
ftp.e-smith.com it said current ver and it is
5.6, I used the ISO file and made a CD.
Nice to have a FAT adsl circuit here....
except that the d/l would only come at
9.6 K, not much faster than a modem, LOL
The way I read you, No GUI for the DNS server .... :(

No, Dan said that the only GUI is the web-based server-manager. That *is*
the user interface for *everything*.
The panel labeled "Hostnames and Addresses" contains the majority of the
configuration of the nameserver. Keep in mind that an unmodified SME Server
only serves DNS to the local network.
