Title: ICMP logs in firewall
Post by: PJB on February 20, 2003, 12:07:42 AM
Hi,

I have an SME 5.6 installation (server only) [192.168.20.10] behind Smoothwall 2.0 beta 4 in the DMZ [192.168.20.1].

The only modifications I have made to the basic installation are to disable Samba and install lm_sensors.

My firewall logs are filling up with ICMP records - 192.168.20.10 > 192.168.20.1 - these occur every minute.

I've searched the manual and archives but can't see why this is happening. I didn't get this with 5.5.

Thanks,
Peter

Engage brain... I think I may have discovered the cause.

I also have e-smith-sysmon installed and think this is pinging the gateway to produce it's latency/packet loss figures...

Do you have the sysmon module installed?  It pings every minute to test latency.
