Title: IDE raid controllers
Post by: John on February 25, 2003, 03:12:10 PM
Is there any IDE raid controller cards that will work with SME 5.5 or 5.12 out of the box?
I want to do hard drive mirroring
The onboard promise raid that I do have on my gigabyte GA-8IRXP will only work as ATA on SME 5.6 dev version.

You could of course upgrade to the dev version of 5.6 :-)

As I said Jeroen, the raid wont work using 5.6 dev, it only lets me use ATA mode not raid. It wont boot to the raid controller!
thx anyway

Dear John,

I have been using the 3ware 7000 ide raid controller for sometime know. It worked perfectly using e-smith 5.1 5.5 and 5.6. For 5.1 and 5.5 you will need to install the drivers (supplied standard by mitel) by type accept dd. No driver is needed in 5.6 (at least if you're not installing the monitoring utility ...but that's another story ;-)

Hope this helps,

Herc

oeeppss....

Sorry......typo...... drivers in 5.1 and 5.5 are standard supplied by 3WARE (installation disk) NOT by Mitel.

Hi Herculito,

Do I need to do any extra step (install driver manually) for using 3ware 7000 ATA RAID card? Do you mean V5.6 already bulid-in driver and will find it automatically when install software package?

Thanks for your help.
