Title: Can I receive email to xxx@domain.com if xxx is an i-bay?
Post by: Jesper Holck on February 28, 2003, 12:40:21 AM
Long time ago I created a very simple web-site, using a web hotel. On the site it was possible to send an email to "ourname@ourname.com",
and this email address was registered in several places. Now I have moved the web-site to an e-smith server, created "ourname.com" as a virtual host, and "ourname" as an i-bay. But now I can't create the user "ourname", that should recieve the e-mails. Is there another way to receive these emails?

Jesper,

You can try to create a psuedonym in the SME server manager under Collaboration called "ourname".  This will automatically create an email address of "ourname@ourname.com.  I tried it and it let me do it but I don't know if it works because I havn't fired up my mail server yet.

Good Luck.

Hi Jesper,

I'm not sure how to do it, but if everything else fails, you can rename your virtual domain ibay (eg. "ourname_ibay" or something), and afterwards create a pseudonym for "ourname".

Best regards

Thank you for the assistance. I wasn't able to create the pseudonym "ourname", but - as suggested by Per - I could create a new ibay with a different name, move the files from the old to the new ibay, delete the old ibay, and finally (!) create  the pseudonym. Thanks.
