Title: IMAP problem
Post by: Neil on March 07, 2003, 08:55:13 PM
I backed up a users IMAP folder to /root/Maildir.username and then changed some settings on the server, related to mail delivery, but not specifically related to that users account.  Then erased the .../username/Maildir/ folder.  At which point I copied the files back from /root/Maildir.username and changed the owner and the group back from root to username and the user cannot see the files when they login to their netscape client and check the server.  What have I done to the files and/or access privileges?  Or why can't the user see any of the mail messages when they log back into the server?

I have found that sometimes changing things on the server can cause mail clients to break. Check that the netscape client doesn't have a broken configuration. Somewhere in Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Netscape there  may be an "imapmail" or "mail" directory. Look in that file and you will see some .msf files. Quit the netscape and then delete the files (if netscape is running, it prevents you deleting the files). Start up netscape again, and you should be okay.
