Hi
Can I use Backup2ws in the following way:
1) Backup a SME server 5.5 in Disaster Mode to a ws
2) Restore to another SME server 5.6 with a different name and ip-address
I have no problems with the backup, but the restore won't work so I'm wondering if it is possible. It is not clear to me what information I need to fill in on the restore screen
Thanks
Best Regards
Gert

I doubt this will work - the backup will include the original e-smith databases and will run a post-restore event.
just whack the 5.6 disk in the 5.5 and choose the upgrade option. of course contribs will break if they are not designed to work with 5.5.

Hi
Thanks for your answer. The problem is that I'm moving to a new processor and motherboard and I want to transfer my data to the new environment.
Best Regards

Why not simply backup your 5.5 setup then upgrade to 5.6, check it all works then back it up again. Then create a new server with the new motherboard etc and install 5.6 and restore the 5.6 backup..
